Strada

Strada is a dual-purpose stool/side table that captures the spirit of motion through a refined, minimal form. Inspired by automotive design, its continuous bent sheet metal form references the sweeping arcs of automotive bodywork while remaining stable and minimal.

project overview.

Strada is a sculptural stool and side table inspired by the elegance of automotive design and the flowing lines of winding roads. Crafted from bent sheet metal, its continuous form reflects movement, precision, and minimalism. This project allowed me to bring my passion for cars into the context of furniture design, translating performance aesthetics into a refined, functional object. Strada embodies a balance of form and function, where material, motion, and intent come together with purpose. As the viewer moves around it, the profile of Strada shifts to reveal changing silhouettes that highlight its fluid geometry. This interplay between form, space, and perspective transforms the piece into more than just furniture — it becomes a physical expression of movement frozen in time.

design process.

The design process for Strada began with a mood board grounded in automotive inspiration from body panel creases to the flowing lines of car exteriors and interiors. These references helped me explore how motion, precision, and intent could be translated into furniture form. Early ideation sketches focused on sculptural silhouettes that evoke movement, while still functioning as a stable, usable object. I then developed a CAD model to refine proportions and surface transitions, which helped with the production of orthographic drawings. The final form was brought to life through metal fabrication, embracing the material qualities of sheet metal to echo the fluid lines and structural rhythm of car design.
