A restaurant’s dinnerware plays a crucial role in shaping the dining experience and reinforcing its identity. This collection was designed for Under, Norway’s Michelin-starred underwater restaurant, capturing the essence of Scandinavian elegance while elevating the sensory ritual of fine dining.
project overview.
As part of a product design course, I designed a high-end dinnerware collection for Under, Norway’s Michelin-starred underwater restaurant. The project challenged us to create a refined set of plates and serving pieces that could be manufactured in premium porcelain and tailored for an elite dining experience. I developed a concept inspired by Norway’s dramatic contrasts — land and sea, light and shadow — blending Scandinavian minimalism with symbolic decorative elements. The result is a cohesive dinnerware set that elevates the sensory dining ritual while reflecting the restaurant’s unique identity and environment.

design process.
The process unfolded as an exploration of place, culture, and sensory experience. I began by immersing myself in the world of Under—its underwater architecture, its philosophy of contrast, and the landscapes that shape Norway’s identity. Iterations of form, texture, and symbolism emerged through sketching, modeling, and material experimentation, gradually converging into a cohesive visual language. Each refinement drew the collection closer to its purpose: to elevate the dining ritual and allow guests to experience Norway’s essence through touch, sight, and narrative.
