UA-24 Livery

A racecar's livery is essential to stand out on the track and create a visual identity for the team. The UA-24 livery encapsulates the team's vision for a Miami-vice-inspired design, intending to promote the team's first electric Formula SAE car.

project overview.

The University of Alberta Formula Racing team competes annually in the Formula SAE competition, showcasing their engineering innovation and teamwork through an electric formula-style race car. In 2024, the team designed and manufactured their first electric Formula car. I led the design of the team’s livery after identifying opportunities to enhance the visual impact and sponsor visibility. Being a member of the aerodynamics and body team, I also had the privilege of leading the livery installation on our car.

design process.

The team was set on a livery theme inspired by the color palettes of Miami Vice. I began with sketches to present my initial ideas and imposed those graphics onto a CAD rendering of the formula car for better visualization. The final graphics for the vinyl were made in Adobe Illustrator before being sent to the vinyl sponsor for print. I led the installation of the vinyl on the car, considering the careful curves and angles of the body. The final result is a livery that stands out on the track and garners immense social media attention.
